I recently read an article our Member of Parliament wrote and it stated the federal subsidies for both Saint John-Digby and Wood Islands-Caribou runs does not include a fleet renewal strategy, it's only to maintain the current ferries and status quo. With that, it appears the MV Princess of Acadia and MV Holiday Island (both built in 1971) will be hanging around until at least 2014. The Holiday Island had it's refit done this past fall while the Princess of Acadia will be in drydock for its refit from March 7 to March 24 according to the Bay Ferries website. The remainder of the Princess of Acadia's departure schedule will be available soon.
