I've got my serious doubts this would happen since the National Marine Policy act of 1995 decided to rationalize the transportation system in Atlantic Canada, privatizing the ferries in Digby and Yarmouth in 1997, once run by the Crown corporation. The party in power at the time: the Liberals!! Now, the same party that eliminated Marine Atlantic from our part of the province suddenly want to bring it back. I'm hearing promises by the Liberal Candidate that he wants Marine Atlantic involved on the Yarmouth- New England run. That's as likely as seeing the MV Caribou running between Digby and Saint John. It's more than likely not going to happen. My opinion on this: best case scenario, Scotia Cruises will run out of New England, connecting Yarmouth while Bay Ferries will run the Princess of Acadia for another five years out of Saint John until a replacement is either built (in Canada, U.S or Europe) or chartered and modified to meet the requirements of the service much like Marine Atlantic did to renew it's fleet this year. It would be nice to see the crown involved, however, it's very doubtful it will happen as the policy in 1995 wanted the crown to focus on the constitutionally mandated runs to Newfoundland and nothing else.
