On October 25, 2014, the Fundy Rose (then named Blue Star Ithaki) made her last trips in Greece departing Piraeus on the mainland and made stops to the islands of Mykonos, Tinos, and Syros before one last arrival back in Piraeus. It was then officially announced on October 27, 2014 that the ship was purchased by Transport Canada and would be operated by Bay Ferries Limited on the route between Digby and Saint John. Her new name Fundy Rose was announced on May 8 and entered service on July 28 of this year.
For her transatlantic crossing, the ship ran under the temporary name Canada2014 and left the port of Perama on the night of November 18, 2014 with a stop in Funchal in the Madeira Islands to take cover from a bad storm in the Atlantic. She arrived in Saint John, New Brunswick on the morning of December 2 and departed for Digby that evening. On December 4, departed Digby for Halifax where an extensive refit was performed along Pier 9A (pictured above in February, about a month before refit work began).
