Digby ferry terminal work

As seen here in this photo I taken on October 20, 2015, there is some ongoing work at the Digby ferry terminal at the forward end of the ship's berth. Meanwhile, walk-on passengers have to board the ship via her car deck or shuttle bus for the moment until new gangway infrastructure (and doors installed on the Fundy Rose) is in place.  The old gangway infrastructure for the Princess of Acadia was still in place on my last trip between Digby and Saint John this summer.

Since the Fundy Rose entered service on July 28, 2015, the "bridge"ramps for vehicles in Digby (pictured) and Saint John had their aprons fixed in place as opposed to being retractable during the 44 years the Princess of Acadia had linked the two terminals. The orange pylons to the left of the bridge ramp separates the walk-on passengers from the vehicle traffic driving on or off the ship.  A temporary measure until new gangways are in place.

Above photos were taken on September 7, 2015.  I since taken another trip a few weeks ago before the schedule changed and no changes to the walk-on gangways yet.  It will be interesting to see what is engineered in the future for walk-on passengers.  Until then, I will be patiently and optimistically waiting and will continue to use the service, perhaps even more than previous years.
