This is to be my final blog post on a great ship which connected Digby and Saint John proudly, safely and reliably for 44 years
July 27, 2015 marked the end of an era of travel between Digby, Nova Scotia and Saint John, New Brunswick. The MV Princess of Acadia made her very last trips across the Bay of Fundy. Now, her distinctive and classy profile no longer in our presence and her unmistakable tone from her General Motors 16-645-E5 engines have been silenced, never to be heard again on the Bay of Fundy. All that remains for frequent travelers on the route (such as myself) and folks from Digby, Saint John and areas are now only memories from this great ferry. On a personal note, this ship had started my passion not only for the maritime and shipping industry, but for the transport industry as well. This blog will forever be indebted to the Princess and the legacy she leaves behind. I have made many great memories over the years of travel aboard including taking one last day cruise sailing (round trip walk on) two weeks before she headed into retirement. As for the future, I will not report it, she will forever remain the ferry that had connected Digby, Nova Scotia and Saint John, New Brunswick with grace, safety and reliability for 44 years. Calm seas Princess of Acadia wherever you may sail to.
